A La Carte & Art Festival

May 15-16, 2010 – 10am to 6pm
Castro Street, Mountain View, California
Official Kick-off to Festival Season in the Bay Area

WHAT:  

family fun at A La Carte & Art14th Annual A La Carte & Art. The Bay Area’s popular outdoor festival season officially kicks-off in Mountain View at this vibrant springtime celebration of the arts featuring live music, a juried arts and crafts show with 200 talented exhibitors showing their latest handcrafted wares, artisan specialty food purveyors, health and wellness displays, an organic and green products showcase, home and garden exhibits, festive food and drink with premium wine, microbrews and margaritas, a farmers’ market with fresh seasonal produce, a classic car show and kids’ amusements in the Tons of Fun Zone. Admission is free.

  • Live Music … twelve bands play an eclectic mix of rhythm and blues, jazz, Motown, contemporary country, flamenco, steel drum and classic rock ‘n roll music. The lineup includes The Bell Brothers, The Shanks, Cover Grrlz, Six String, Soul Intention, Department of Rock, Bob Culbertson, Kaweh, Ancient Winds, Shabang, Emerson, HeartStrings Music.

  • Contemporary Fine Art, Cool Crafts … 200 independent artists and craftspeople show their latest handcrafted work in ceramics, fiber, glass, fine art, jewelry, leather, metal, paper, sculpture, and wood. Vases, clocks, dishes, wall and table decorations, stained glass, etchings, sculptures, photography, paintings, beadwork, jewelry, vests, handbags, hats, wallets, footwear, windchimes, and waterfalls will be among the fine wares available.

  • Festive Food & Drink … souvlakis, meatballs, dolmas, smoked bratwurst with sauerkraut, potato salad, corn-on-the-cob, spiced chicken, beef and pork satays, pad thai, chicken and vegetables in peanut sauce, teriyaki chicken and pork kabobs, veggie wraps, tamales, tacos, made-to-order crepes, jumbo hot dogs, burgers, corn dogs, kettle corn, smoothies.

  • Artisan Specialty Food ... sample artisan-produced edibles –– spices, olive oil, dessert sauces, salad dressings, balsamic vinegars, flavored almonds, tea, scone mixes, fruit butter, fudge sauces, fruit jams, honey, flavored mustard, salsas, marinades and barbecue sauce.

  • Classic Car Show … new to the festival is A La Car & Art, a classic car show featuring vintage touring cars, custom hot rods, sleek sports cars and super cool low riders.

  • Farmers’ Market … farm-fresh strawberries, apricots, cherries, organic produce, honey, almonds, pistachios, walnuts from the Mountain View Certified Farmers’ Market.

  • Kids’ Tons Of Fun Zone … thrilling virtual reality motion theater, 24’ climbing wall, inflatible slides and bounces, remote controlled NASCAR race track, face painting, temporary tattoos, stiltwalkers, balloon twisters, police and fire department displays.
