JT&S Performance Fast Blast
This 2000 Buell Blast is the little motorcycle that could!
The Blast may be small in size, and is the easy-handling choice for a lot of new riders, but this is MUCH more than a beginner's motorcycle!
Owner-builder Terry Parsley of JT&S Performance has set out to show the world just how much one of these amazing little bikes can accomplish.
Starting life as a 500cc, single cylinder, stock street bike, it was the first Buell Blast to be ridden across the United States.
Terry rode the motorcycle from California to Laconia New Hampshire in 2002 to participate in Laconia’s famed “Motorcycle Week”.
Terry’s visit to the Buell factory in Wisconsin, and a meeting with company founder Erik Buell were special highlights of the trip.
Not being content with that adventure, Terry set out to turn this motorcycle into a Land Speed Record holder, and has accomplished that goal and then some!
Now boasting a much-modified 650 cc, single cylinder motor, the JT&S Blast certainly doesn’t bear much resemblance to that simple little cross-country traveler! It has, however, been wildly successful on the Bonneville Salt.
In five round-trip passes on the salt, and two race seasons, this bike has earned five AMA National Land Speed Records, in three classes with a top speed of 138 MPH.
Although exhibited with the bike’s partially streamlined bodywork, this bike has also set a record “naked”… running with no bodywork.
Terry and the JT&S Performance team are looking forward to traveling from their shop at Northern California’s Infineon Raceway to the Bonneville Salt Flats Raceway this fall to attempt a few more records!
