The Brennan-Morrison musical connection goes way back. In Belfast, Ireland, 16 year-old Kevin Brennan was in a band called The Great Eight with Shana's father, Van Morrison. Eventually, Kevin moved to the Bay Area where he formed the Celtic-based Claddagh Band. Years later, Van and Kevin would meet up again with Kevin opening for several of Van's Bay Area concerts.
Meanwhile, Van’s then-teenage daughter, Shana, began her own musical journey. With Van's advice, she tapped into her Celtic roots and began singing with Kevin Brennan and his Claddagh Band. Kevin worked and performed with Shana until she was ready to form her own band.
In 1996, Shana Morrison borrowed brilliant guitarist and pedal steel player, Robert Powell, and other talented musicians and took her newly formed Caledonia Band on a successful tour. From 2006 through 2008, Shana performed alongside Van Morrison during his U.S. and U.K. tour dates.
Shana has just released a promising album, "Joyride", and comes to the Dream Machines stage to lend her considerable talent to help raise money for the Adult Day Health Center and to join her dear friend Kevin Brennan in a series of Reunion Concerts.
Shana Morrison & The Claddagh Band perform from 11 am to 1 pm.
