Huge Mardi Gras-Style Festival of Music, Art, Food and Fun Labor Day Weekend

WHAT:

Enjoying festival wines and microbrews40th Annual Millbrae Art & Wine Festival. One of the Bay Area’s biggest Labor Day weekend events, more than 100,000 festival lovers transform downtown Millbrae into the “Big Easy” with a Mardi Gras-style feast featuring two sun-splashed days of live music with headliners Tainted Love, Big Bang Beat and The Delta Wires, a juried show with 250 professional artists and craftmakers showing their latest handcrafted wares, festive food and drink, premium wines, microbrews and margaritas, artisan specialty food, an organic and green product showcase, home and garden exhibits, health and wellness displays, a classic car show, Chinese Dragon Dance and Taiko Drum performances, tons of fun for kids with the Rising Star Music and Dance Showcase and endless amusements in Playland. Free admission.

Live Music … seven dynamite bands playing classic rock ‘n roll, rhythm and blues, Motown, jazz, soul, reggae, pop and party music non-stop on stage and street: Tainted Love, Big Bang Beat, Delta Wires, James Moseley Band, The Pulsators, Crunchy Frog, and The Emerson Growiser Band.

Fine Art & Cool Crafts ... 250 professional artists and craftmakers show original work in wood, leather, ceramics, metal, textiles, graphics, glass, mixed media, sculpture, jewelry, photography, watercolor and oil painting, and clothing.

Kids’ Stage ... features the all-new Rising Star Music and Dance Showcase starring talented, up and coming performers, maybe the next American Idol, from the Bay Area.

Kids’ Playland
... action-packed fun and games with a full-size Ferris Wheel, Boomer’s Magic Circus, a 120’ tall Super Slide, face painting, temporary tattoos, Mobile Rock’s challenging 24-foot climbing wall, kiddie train rides, the Great Crab Grab, Helicopter and Berry-Go-Round amusement rides and several themed inflatables including Dr. Seuss-inspired Cat-In-The Hat bounce house, Tsunami Tidal Wave slide and the Escape From Alcatraz obstacle course.

Food & Drink ... garlic fries, teriyaki chicken skewers, made-to-order crepes, fresh corn-on-the-cob, Philly cheesesteaks, quesadillas, gourmet sausages, calamari with cilantro lime sauce, gyros, fried zucchini and artichokes, veggie wraps, smoked turkey legs and Venezuelan arepas, caribe, pepeada and pernil.

September 4-5, 2010 (Saturday-Sunday). Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

WHERE:

On Broadway (one block west of El Camino Real), between Victoria Ave. and Meadow Glen, downtown Millbrae, California. From Highsway 101 or 280, take the Millbrae Avenue exit west to El Camino Real north. Free round trip shuttle service from the Millbrae BART/Caltrain station every 20 minutes. Get directions.
