For endless adventure, sheer excitement and an unbeatable entertainment value with activities the whole family will enjoy, don’t miss the action-packed Kids’ Playland at the Millbrae Art & Wine Festival, September 4-5 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Broadway. Genial George D’Olivo is a kid’s best friend. His company, Classic Amusements, provides exciting rides, games and concessions for special events throughout the West. D’Olivo’s well-maintained equipment, friendly staff and selection of sought-after attractions have turned the Millbrae Art & Wine Festival into a “can’t miss” event for families. “It’s the best family entertainment value out there,” said D’Olivo. “We haven’t raised ticket prices in over 10 years,” he said. Tickets are $1 a piece and most of the rides charge 3 tickets. Discounts are available based on the number of tickets you buy.
D’Olivo plans to debut several rides at this year’s festival including the Dixieland Twister, a 10-seat mechanical swing, and Zoom, a true piece of Americana — it’s the actual ride, fully restored, that appeared in the legendary 1978 movie, Grease. The Froghopper, a longtime favorite, is a guaranteed tummy tickler, taking riders 25’ in the air and bounce dropping them like a frog. For a real scream, hop on the full size Ferris wheel for some loopy fun. Strap yourself in the Berry-Go-Round ride, turn the wheel and see how fast and loud you can twist and shout. Get ready for lift-off on the exciting Helicopter ride. In The Great Crab Grab, contestants toss a ping-pong ball into a fishbowl — accurate tossers win and take home live hermit crabs, a cool critter companion! Jump for joy on one-of-a-kind themed bouncers. Kids love their colorful appearance and boundless excitement. The bouncers are forced-air inflated with soft “pillow” flooring and walls for maximum safety. There’s a Dr. Seuss-inspired Cat-In-The Hat bounce house and then there’s Alcatraz, the most awesome inflatable obstacle course ever! Two people start out in different cell blocks and then, they race through as they try to see who will escape "The Rock" first. Lots of climbing, squeeze throughs, tunnels and sliding as the prisoners make their way to the final obstacle, running right through the legs of the 20 foot tall security guard!
The cell blocks inside are made for photo opportunities. You can take pictures of your "prisoners" through the bars before they try their daring escape.
Kids and adults alike will enjoy Mobile Rock’s menacing 24-foot Climbing Wall where trained climbing technicians will be available to show you the ropes. The wall is color coded to assist climbers, from the youngest to the most advanced, make it to the to the top.
Like a skyscraper towering above the crowd, for a real thrill, try the 120’ Super Slide where you will get the ride of your lifetime hurtling down the slippery slide in a burlap sack.
You and your friends will experience the adventure of a lifetime on Y3k Simulators computerized thrill ride. It combines wind, sound and outlandish motion, all synchronized to a breathtakingly large movie screen.
Linda Vogel is the best face painter around. She uses a water-based paint “that doesn’t stain”, offering dozens of unique face painting designs. You can tell by the line that forms in front that this is one popular booth.
“The People Painters” always delight the crowd with temporary tattoos and airbrush face painting. Children love colorful hearts, flowers, lizards and rainbows. Dare to be different with a lower back tattoo or a temporary dragon! |
