Rock on! Rock music fans will have a chance to strut their stuff in front of legions of adoring fans while competing for two Xbox 360 packages on this year’s Microsoft School of Rock Stage at the Mountain View Art & Wine Festival, September 11-12, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Castro Street.
“The whole family will be able to play, sing and dance together on stage at the same time while competing for an Xbox — it’s gonna be a blast,” said School of Rock Stage visionary and producing director David Stevens, also programs and events manager at the Chamber of Commerce Mountain View. “Music fans will be able to play everything from classic rock to current pop hits and everything in between. The two winners will be judged based on receiving the highest scores of the day. Xbox 360 winners can be drummers, guitarists or vocalists.”
The two Xbox 360s will be donated by Microsoft. Xbox 360 is the second video game console produced by Microsoft and is the successor to Xbox. Features include an integrated Xbox live service that allows players to download arcade games, TV shows, music and movies. Players also can compete online and use streaming video services such as ESPN and Netflix.
“Microsoft is a member of the Chamber of Commerce Mountain View,” Stevens said. “Their employees always have been very dedicated to the community.”
This year, the Mountain View Chamber of Commerce partnered with the Alzheimer’s Association of Northern California to enhance the School of Rock Stage by incorporating YouTube into the experience. Alzheimer’s Association volunteers will videotape performances and upload the videos to YouTube. Fans and festivalgoers will be able to tweet photos and post them to Facebook by using hashtag #MVAW10.
“The School of Rock stage directly coincides with the Alzheimer’s Association’s memory walk and its mission to make lasting memories,” Stevens said. “It will be an unforgettable experience for people of all ages. Join the fun!”
