Half Moon Bay Art & Pumpkin Festival Announces
5th Annual Poster Design Contest
The Half Moon Bay Art & Pumpkin Festival, in association with the Coastal Arts League, is launching its 5th annual Poster Design Contest for the 2011 festival. Graphic artists from across the country will have a high-profile opportunity to showcase their talent by entering the contest. The winning entry will receive $1,000 as well as the honor of having their design featured as the centerpiece on all promotional material for the prestigious festival held every October in the World Pumpkin Capital of Half Moon Bay. This year's Half Moon Bay Art & Pumpkin Festival will be held October 16-17 from 9 am to 5 pm on historic Main Street.
Last year's contest drew entries from across the country and organizers look forward to building on its success. "We've been absolutely delighted with the quality of work and number of submissions," said Shirley Kellicutt, member of the Coastal Arts League and chair of the contest committee. "Every year, thousands of visitors come through the Coastal Arts League gallery during the month of October to vote on the People's Choice Award. The interest and enthusiasm has been wonderful."
The contest is open to all interested parties, particularly art students, professional artists and graphic designers due to the detailed production specifications required. In addition to the $1,000 top prize for the winning entry, there will also be a $500 award for second place, $250 for third (two third place prizes will be awarded). The "Peoples Choice" winner will receive $250.
Accepted entries will be on display as part of a special show during the month of October 2010, which includes Pumpkin Festival weekend (October 16-17), at the Coastal Arts League Gallery, 300 Main Street in Half Moon Bay. The submission deadline for the contest is September 17, 2010. For information, call 650-726-9533.
