Sports fans will be pleased to learn the Half Moon Bay Art & Pumpkin Festival is bringing back the popular Take 5 Lounge introduced to rave reviews two years ago.

Sports fanatics, couch potatoes and those looking for a diversion from shopping or a break from the teeming crowds will find the comfort and enjoyment of their own living room without ever leaving the event.
The Take 5 Lounge is a place where festivalgoers can take a break and hang out with friends while watching their favorite sporting events on a giant screen LED TV. Top that off with a tasty Mavericks Pumpkin Harvest Ale from Half Moon Bay Brewing Company and an Italian sausage sandwich with zesty marinara sauce fired up by the good folks at the Coastside Adult Day Health Center and you’ve got a real winner.
Local legend Kevin Frink, a huge sports fan, suggested the concept of bringing in a giant screen TV as a draw for male sports fans, not the easiest audience to attract to a weekend festival, particularly during the World Series and NFL and college football season. Frink’s foresight and brilliance has made the already successful festival even better.
“The Take 5 Lounge is a slam dunk winner,” said Cameron Palmer, Chairman of the festival committee. “It helped drive foot traffic to the Adult Day Health Center parking lot (where the Lounge is located) where there’s plentiful seating, great food and drinks. It’s fresh, it’s fun, people absolutely loved it. The overall experience for festivalgoers was enhanced.”
Festival organizers partnered with Auburn-based Visible Display Corporation to bring the 9-foot-by-12-foot light-emitting-diode screen to the festival. Giant LED screens have been bringing video excitement to major events like concerts and sporting events for years, but Visible Display Corporation is the first company to offer an easily portable and appropriately sized screen for events like a street fair.
While giant screens must be assembled and disassembled by an experienced crew at an exorbitant cost, the Visible Display screen can pop out of its trailer and, in under 30 minutes, be broadcasting on a larger screen and in higher resolution than you’ll find in sports bars.
“The trailer and technology is brand new,” said Derek Clark, CFO of Visible Display Corporation. “We’re excited to bring it to the Pumpkin Festival to see what the response will be like.”
